I Declare This Day CUPCAKE DAY!!!

This Labor Day weekend turned out to be a lot of fun.  With back to school inching closer, my husband and I thought it would be nice to have his 7 year old (soon to be 8!) niece, Joli, over for the day.  We declared it CUPCAKE DAY!!  Devil's food cake and a whole bag of dark chocolate chips!  Yummers!  Joli requested that we draw out the designs for the cupcake decorating on paper first, so I broke out the crayons.  The icing colors of choice were red, orange, yellow, blue, pink, and purple.

Decisions made!  Now the real fun begins!  With so many cupcakes, we must have been sitting there for at least an hour icing away!  Of course, most of those cupcakes went home with Joli or I would've surely been in a sugar-induced coma and wouldn't have been able to share these treats with you.

Don't you just love cupcakes?  The chips give them bursts of dark chocolate in every bite.  The icing was fun but I actually prefer whip cream.  Our niece has already put in requests for the next fun-filled day.  We are to make chocolate covered strawberries and bananas.  Yum!
